The main objectives of the Issue-based Coalition on Governance for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions of the Regional Collaborative Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean are:

Subregional/cross-border support: Developing an information management platform (i.e. the United Nations Laboratory on Crime and Corruption, UN iLabCC) that offers a comprehensive suite of resources aimed at providing Resident Coordinators and United Nations country teams with up-to-date information and tools to tackle corruption, organized crime, gender-based violence, prison reform, terrorism prevention in the region, as well as other topics linked to the Sustainable Development Goal 16 and correlated Sustainable Development Goals.

Prototyping integrated policy advice: Developing guidance and recommendations on specific public policy areas related to Sustainable Development Goal 16 and correlated Sustainable Development Goals and making them available to United Nations Resident Coordinators and country teams through the United Nations Laboratory on Crime and Corruption (UN iLabCC).

Capacity development for United Nations Resident Coordinators and country teams: Training sessions and e-learning initiatives for United Nations country teams and/or external counterparts (as requested through the Resident Coordinators) on specific themes linked to the area of focus.

Common positioning and communication: Producing and disseminating executive notes and joint key messages on the area of focus.
