The Digital Dialogue is an initiative of the Youth Working Group of the United Nations Regional Collaboration Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean, the main interagency mechanism for youth of the United Nations System in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising of 15 UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes.
The Digital Dialogue will be developed through a platform based on Artificial Intelligence that will allow adolescents and young people to express their opinions and points of view safely.
Who can participate?
If you are between 15 and 29 years old, you can participate and express your opinions. The dialogue is open to adolescents and young people from Latin American and Caribbean countries, regardless of their gender, identity or place of birth.
To attend the dialogue, participants must have a mobile phone, tablet or computer with an internet connection.
We want the voices of all adolescents and young people to be present and participate in this inclusive and diverse space!
Digital dialogue is an opportunity to express and share opinions, hopes and points of view. The reports of the dialogues will be published on the RCP LAC website so that the results of this experience are known.
For what?
We want to collect the points of view of adolescents and young people from Latin America and the Caribbean as an input that supports the participation of young people in the Summit of the Future and the Youth20 Summit.
The Summit of the Future is a United Nations event that brings together world leaders to forge a new international consensus to improve the present and safeguard the future.
The Group of 20, G20, is the main intergovernmental forum for international economic and financial coordination, comprising the 20 largest economies in the world. Currently, the presidency of the G20 is held by Brazil.
The Y20, or Youth 20, is the main youth participation mechanism of the G20. This year, under Brazil's presidency of the G20, the Youth 20 Summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro. As a result of the Summit, a Communiqué is prepared — a document that summarizes the main conclusions and positions agreed upon by the participants or leaders of the G20 member countries, with the demands and priorities of the youth, to be widely disseminated with society and formally presented for the Summit of Heads of State.
How?
Participants enter the platform and give their opinion through text messages on the topic proposed in the digital dialogue. The platform, through artificial intelligence, processes the content, groups it conceptually, and returns the opinions to the participants so they can prioritize and comment on the other responses.
The platform guarantees the confidentiality and anonymity of the opinions.
A UN technical team will moderate the conversation through an online platform.
What topics will be addressed?
The perspectives of adolescents and young people on the Summit of the Future and the topics prioritized by the G20:
· Fighting hunger, poverty, and inequality;
· Climate change, energy transition, and sustainable development;
· Reform of the global governance system;
· Inclusion and diversity;
· Innovation and the future of work;
· Youth, Peace, and Security.
