Unlocking Social Protection for Populations Left Behind

On 8 May 2025, the Working Group on Populations Left Behind and the Issue-Based Coalition on Equitable Growth and Financing for Development held a regional webinar on "Unlocking Social Protection for Populations Left Behind."

The session explored strategies to include marginalized groups, such as people living with HIV, LGBTQI+ individuals, persons with disabilities, older persons, and children, in national social protection systems. UN Country Teams and Resident Coordinators Offices joined to exchange experiences and learn from case studies and policy recommendations focused on reducing inequalities and advancing the SDGs. An excellent example on the inclusion of Persons living with HIV and other key populations was shared by the Single System of Beneficiaries (Sistema Único de Beneficiarios - SIUBEN) from the Dominican Republic.

The webinar was also the opportunity for participants to learn about available technical support from the Working Group on Populations Left Behind and the Issue-Based Coalition on Equitable Growth and Financing for Development, and to connect with peers across the region.
