This document provides a comprehensive statistical framework for measuring the homicide of women and girls for gender-related reasons (femicide/feminicide). In addition to the statistical definition of such homicides, the framework identifies a typology of homicides of women and girls for gender-related reasons (femicide/feminicide) and the list of variables that can be used to identify and count the different types of these homicides. The proposed definition and typology align with the structure and framework of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) and can therefore be applied regardless of specific national legislation on these crimes. The framework also identifies the main data that should be collected to provide information on the victims, perpetrators, and the State’s response to homicides of women and girls for gender-related reasons (femicide/feminicide).
